Christ did not waste food
Re: Letter on conserving food in the March 30 issue.
In addition to what one of your readers wrote about conserving food, I wish to add my observations:
Jesus once said on the occasion of having fed thousands of people, "Gather up the fragments." He did not allow waste. With 12 basketfuls gathered from 5,000 people, we can imagine how careful Our Lord was with excess, unconsumed food.
Today millions of tonnes of food are thrown away. This otherwise could feed millions of hungry mouths asking God to assuage their suffering.
There are several ways to prevent food from being thrown away. This is especially true for people who are aware of the responsibilities attached to the stewardship of God's gifts.
The beautiful thing about this is that money saved by the proper management of God's gifts can be channelled towards several church agencies which look after the hungry.

Re: "#No2Trudeau campaign decries Liberal leader's abortion stand" by Agnieszka Krawczynski in the March 23 issue.
(Printing) this article is an attempt to disgrace Mr. Trudeau for his decision to uphold Canada's law on abortion - abortion is legal in Canada.
In the article the campaigners say, "Justin Trudeau cannot be supported by Catholic votes." Who are they to say that? Canada is a secular state: it purports to be officially neutral in matters of religion, supporting neither religion nor irreligion.
It is not an article around which Catholics can unite. On the contrary, I see it as one that will divide us.
The images included with the article must be an insult to most readers! In addition, a very offensive, glossy card is being distributed in the Fraser Valley. It is hideous and insinuates that Mr. Trudeau is a baby killer!
In fact, quite the opposite is true: Mr. Trudeau is a practising Catholic, a father, and a family man.
I am a practising Catholic and prolife. To (print a story about the abortion stand of) one politician when the other party leaders are all on the same page is unacceptable.
