It's certainly easy to remember a one-word motto: Almighty. With this word in mind, students across the Lower Mainland have a chance to express their excitement months before their confirmation during Spirit Day Nov. 3 and 4.

"With the power of God, all things are possible," said Clayton Imoo, the Director of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (OYYAM). "The motto is short and catchy."

Spirit Day provides an opportunity for youth to interact in a lively atmosphere. Music, games, skits, and meals will be offered, as well as Mass said by Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, at the Chandos Pattison Auditorium in Surrey.

"In essence, it's an experience of the universal Church," reflected Imoo.

This year a super-hero theme is evident. OYYAM flyers promoting the event look similar to the pages inside a comic book starring the Amazing Spider-Man or the X-Men. Jesus and various saints adorn the Spirit Day handouts in heroic poses.

"Confirmation is so important. With the recent success of films such as The Avengers, we thought that saints are the real-life super heroes."
Registration for Spirit Day is through parishes or schools. The cost is $40.
