liturgy

Archbishop Raymond Roussin, SM, has announced that Divine Mercy
Quasi-Parish in New Westminster, home to the traditional Latin Mass
in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, will move to Holy Family Parish in
Vancouver effective July 1.
Holy Family will be administered by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint
Peter for a five-year term, and Father Erik Deprey, FSSP, has been
appointed Holy Family pastor.
The society was founded in 1988 with the approval of Pope John Paul
II to form priests in the Tridentine form of the Latin Rite Mass.
Holy Family will no longer be a German national parish, although
pastor Father Benno Burghardt, who retires next month, will continue
to offer Mass in German at the parish.
Archbishop Roussin said the changes were made under Canon Law 515
S.2 and after consultation with the archdiocese’s Presbyteral
Council and the respective pastors and parish councils that will be
affected by the changes.
The formal decrees of suppression and were announced at all Masses
in the Quasi-parish of Divine Mercy and Holy Family Parish Sunday,
June 15.
