Archbishop meets Karol
Wojtyla club
By Laureen McMahon
There were big smiles all around when the Karol Wotyla (Pope John
Paul II) Club for Young Adults welcomed Archbishop Raymond Roussin,
SM, to a festive Sunday lunch at Rosary Hall on Feb. 3.
No one had a bigger smile on his face than the archbishop when
the club members surprised their shepherd with a pre-Valentine's Day
huge heart-shaped box of candy and a bouquet of red roses!
It was Archbishop Roussin's first visit with the club and he
promised many more in the future.
Karol Wotyla Club members come from a number of parishes, including
St. Mary's, St. Augustine's, St. Patrick's, Guardian Angels, and
Sacred Heart and St. Francis Xavier.
In his address, Archbishop Roussin advised the young adults to do
all they could to sustain each other in boldly living their faith, a
spokesman told The B.C. Catholic. He urged them courageously to
uplift one another as they seek to defend their beliefs against the
"massive assaults" which so often come from a secular, self-seeking
society.
The cross of Christ, he said, is central to the strength of the
Catholic faith and to the fulfilment of the Father's
Proclaim by word and deed, archbishop says
promises. Salvation, the archbishop explained to the young adults,
is available as long as we continue to proclaim Christ's cross in
word and deed.
The archbishop encouraged questions from the club members and
mingled with them after lunch.
The Karol Wotyla Club at Holy Rosary welcomes young adults between
18 and 35 to meet every second Sunday from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m.
