One for the (year)books!
Carney's full-colour publication wins
national award
By Rudy Lee
At Archbishop Carney Secondary School, students anxiously wait the
day they receive their yearbooks, and we, the Yearbook Staff, toil
all year to live up to these expectations. Last year, to mark
Carney's first full-colour yearbook, we decided upon a kaleidoscopic
theme, which meant more than just being able to experiment with
infinite colours.

Rudy Lee, Sarah Droy Stubbs, Alanna Durkovich, and Joanna Strzelecki, members of the yearbook staff, hold copies of the 06-07 Archbishop Carney annual that finished in the first place category in the Canadian National Yearbook Review. Carney's yearbook was awarded 86 per cent, which placed them fifth overall in Canada.

For Carney, a kaleidoscope is somewhat of a microcosm of our school,
representing the diversity of our students and staff. Carney has
individuals who are part of a whole and a whole made up of
individuals.
Under the direction of Mr. Kevin Street, the 20 of us who enrolled
in Yearbook signed up for more than just a mere four credits towards
our graduation. We executed an award-winning design while learning
the trade of graphic design, photography, and journalism. Our
industry and utility earned us a first-place standing by the
National Yearbook Review, and we tied for fifth place overall in
Canada.
