Easter greeting from
Archbishop Raymond Roussin
Chocolate rabbits, coloured eggs, sweets and other things given
up for Lent will soon be back on our lists of "okays," "no more
sacrifices."
Perhaps during Lent we have been more attentive to our prayer
life, to our relationships at home. At work, we have tried to be
more like Christ, or one who reflects Christ in his or her life.
Easter is the feast of Jesus Christ's resurrection! Our faith, our
hope rests in this event. The resurrection story is at the heart of
our religion.
Some reject Christianity because of all dogmas! We, on the contrary,
are invited to renew our belief in Christ's resurrection. It is an
event that touches each and every one of us.
Jesus said to His followers that His life was given out of love for
them, for us, and to the degree that we followed in His footsteps,
we too would rise to new life.
With this in mind, I urge you to partake in the liturgies of Holy
Week. They may seem long, but as we try to follow more fully these
sacred prayers and stories they once again "replay" what Christ did
for us as He lived, died, and rose from the dead.
May these few sacred days prepare us more consciously for Easter:
the resurrection of Christ and His promises to us.
I wish you all a very Blessed Easter. May the risen Lord be with you
all as you continue to live a life centered on the Risen Christ,
which is a life of joy and peace.
